We would have no hesitation in recommending Marlow Building to anyone considering an extension. The quality of the build is excellent and blends in seamlessly with the original building both internally and externally. Lindsay Marlow was reliable, tidy, polite and friendly, and took time to talk to us about the build on a regular basis. He took care of all matters on the build, including Building Inspections, electrical inspection, plumbing, painting & decorating. This meant that we had nothing to worry about throughout the build, and had finished rooms to move into at the end of the project. We are thrilled with the finished result. We would certainly use Marlow Building for any future work.

Lindsay Marlow - 'Competitive quote, high standard of work, recommended'. 'I would not hesitate to hire Lindsay again or to recommend his work to others. Lindsay has helped me at various stages throughout a complete house refurbishment. Lindsay originally came to quote for the proposed work of restructuring the kitchen/utility space. He was the only builder who, on his initial visit, took the time and effort to understand what would be required to do the job given the complex structure of walls involved. He also returned the most competitive quote and was therefore awarded the work. The standard of the work was high, and Lindsay discussed and explained any challenges he became aware of during the work to ensure I informed at all stages of the progress. Lindsay worked with a local architect to ensure load bearing RSJ’s were of adequate strength, and the local council to ensure the extra space created met Building Regulations. Due to the high standard of work seen, Lindsay was given first refusal for further work I required. This included as extending rear window openings to fit French doors, removing an internal chimney and providing a 1st storey extension. All of the work was finished to a very high standard once again.
Examples include tailoring the brickwork around the windows to match existing, matching the colour of bricks and roof tiles to existing, and very neat brickwork. Lindsay also worked with other professionals to provide me with an en-suite to my specifications including the drainage, and plastered the whole house to an excellent finish. He is also very diligent and has returned to make good any minor problems where required. Throughout the work Lindsay also helped to keep costs down on such a large job by providing me with options to decide the course of action. He also provided a great deal of advice in areas we decided to take on ourselves, which was greatly appreciated. Lindsay is highly recommended for all building work.'

After being disappointingly let down by a supposedly reliable building contractor half way through refurbishment work on my parents’ property, I received an introductory letter from Lindsay (Marlow Building & Landscaping) inviting his services to quote for a single storey and first floor extension whilst planning application was still in progress. Lindsay was the first contractor called upon to visit the property and to provide a quote at very short notice on a Saturday afternoon and he turned up within an hour of contacting him. This alone showed dedication and enthusiasm. Having already been let down and cautious of building contractors, Lindsay soon rectified and redeemed our trust back and provided us with alot of confidence in his workmanship. Having also obtained other quotes from other replicable builders, Marlow Building’s quote was the most competitive and Lindsay justified the difference in costs fairly and was therefore awarded the work. Lindsay has an experienced and specialised team who deal with tiling, decorating, electrical, plumbing, plastering, joinery whom he called upon at different stages of the work. No job was too small or too large and nothing was impossible with a ‘can do’, positive attitude. The team have proven to be punctual, honest, friendly, hard-working, conscientious and have always left the house tidy and clean on completion each day. The work pursued has always been to a very high standard of finish and any issues were rectified on the same day. The team have also been very considerate around my parents and the fact that they were still living in the house whilst the work was being undertaken and caused as little disruption as possible. They would arrive at 7.30am every morning (including weekends and bank holidays) and worked sometimes until 7.00pm which worked in my parents’ favour as we required the work done as quickly as possible having already experienced unnecessary delays from the previous building contractor. We found Lindsay to be responsive and has taken on extra work at short notice and always quoted reasonable prices. Whenever unforeseen problems have arisen, a methodical solution was found with no corners cut and Lindsay always took the time to ensure material prices quoted for were competitive and to a high standard. Lindsay was easy to contact when needed to and always arrived when agreed to. He would always inspect jobs carried out by his team to ensure they were infact completed to a high standard and that the structural work carried out had met building regulations and was in line with the architect’s work schedule. Originally the extension and refurbishment work was to take 16 weeks, but we were very pleased when the work was completed within 14 weeks (this included completion of additional work not originally quoted or allowed time for). During this period of time, Lindsay and the team have maintained a very professional working relationship and somehow made their presence a pleasure despite the expected disruptions caused to my parents’ house as a result of the building work. Based on this, we would wholeheartedly not hesitate to recommend Marlow Building and wish him and the team all the success for the future.
