From the start we were very impressed with the professionalism of Lindsay and Nadia. The contract for the extension was clear with the work stages and payments required.

Construction on the single storey extension began early March and was completed at the end of May. Lindsay and his crew were always willing to advise and offer suggestions in order to forward the project and were amenable to requested changes.

The finished extension looks great; the workmanship is of the highest quality. We now have that extra room downstairs, a separate toilet and separate shower room which will add value to the property.
After sales was excellent. We have no hesitation in recommending Lindsay’s services. The whole experience was virtually stress free which made the upheaval bearable.

In September 2013 we appointed Lindsay Marlow of Marlow Building and Landscaping as our building contractor. The work included building a workshop, a two-storey extension and making significant alterations to the original three-bedroomed house. The building work was started in November 2013 and completed in August 2014.

Although we had expected the work to be completed sooner, we did make some alterations during the course of construction, which added to the scale of the works. For example, all the plaster in the original house was stripped. One wall of an existing extension had to be re-built and the roof was converted to a pitched roof. Lindsay was responsible for all ground works, brickwork, steelwork, roofing, joinery and plastering. He also liaised with the window installers, plumbers, electrician and bathroom fitter. Lindsay arranged for the statutory inspections to be carried out by the local authority-building inspector and ensured that all current building regulations were adhered to.

A large proportion of the building was of standard construction but there was some complicated steelwork to incorporate. Lindsay rose to the challenge and managed to make it all work! Throughout the project Lindsay kept us informed of developments, on a day-by-day basis if necessary. Lindsay himself is a first-class bricklayer and he has a team of skilled tradesmen to call upon. All the tradesmen were polite, cheerful and took a pride in their work. Materials and plants were ordered at the right time to keep the work flowing and the site was generally kept very tidy.

The end result is a house we are proud of, and Lindsay must take the credit for having understood what we wanted and helping us achieve our aim.

During the recent work on our extension, Lindsay and his team were professional throughout. From the outset Lindsay was very approachable and was always willing to meet with us to discuss ongoing details. As they worked, the team were polite, friendly and considerate to both our neighbours and us.

We would certainly use Lindsay again for any future building work.

After being disappointingly let down by a supposedly reliable building contractor half way through refurbishment work on our property, Lindsay (Marlow Building & Landscaping) made contact, inviting his services to quote for a single storey and first floor extension whilst planning application was still in progress. Lindsay soon rectified and redeemed our trust back and provided us with a lot of confidence in his workmanship. Having also obtained other quotes from other replicable builders, Marlow Building’s quote was the most competitive and Lindsay justified the difference in costs fairly and was therefore awarded the work.

Lindsay has an experienced and specialised team who deal with tiling, decorating, electrical, plumbing, plastering, joinery whom he called upon at different stages of the work. No job was too small or too large with a ‘can do’, positive attitude. The team have proven to be punctual, honest, friendly, hard-working, conscientious and have always left the house tidy and clean on completion each day. The work pursued has always been to a very high standard of finish and any issues were rectified on the same day. The team have also been very considerate to the fact that we were still living in the house whilst the work was being undertaken and caused as little disruption as possible.

We found the team to be responsive and have taken on extra work at short notice and always quoted reasonable prices. Whenever unforeseen problems had arisen, a methodical solution was found with no corners cut and Lindsay always took the time to ensure material prices quoted for were competitive and to a high standard. Jobs carried out were always inspected’ to ensure they were completed to a high standard and that the structural work carried out had met building regulations and was in line with the architect’s work schedule.

Originally the extension and refurbishment work was to take 16 weeks, but we were very pleased when the work was completed within 14 weeks (this included completion of additional work not originally quoted or allowed time for). During this period of time, Lindsay and the team have maintained a very professional working relationship and based on this, we would wholeheartedly not hesitate to recommend Marlow Building and wish him and the team all the success for the future.

Lindsay Marlow – ‘Competitive quote, high standard of work, recommended’. ‘I would not hesitate to hire Lindsay again or to recommend his work to others. Lindsay has helped me at various stages throughout a complete house refurbishment. Lindsay originally came to quote for the proposed work of restructuring the kitchen/utility space. He was the only builder who, on his initial visit, took the time and effort to understand what would be required to do the job given the complex structure of walls involved. He also returned the most competitive quote and was therefore awarded the work. The standard of the work was high, and Lindsay discussed and explained any challenges he became aware of during the work to ensure I informed at all stages of the progress. Lindsay worked with a local architect to ensure load bearing RSJ’s were of adequate strength, and the local council to ensure the extra space created met Building Regulations. Due to the high standard of work seen, Lindsay was given first refusal for further work I required. This included as extending rear window openings to fit French doors, removing an internal chimney and providing a 1st storey extension. All of the work was finished to a very high standard once again.

Examples include tailoring the brickwork around the windows to match existing, matching the colour of bricks and roof tiles to existing, and very neat brickwork. Lindsay also worked with other professionals to provide me with an en-suite to my specifications including the drainage, and plastered the whole house to an excellent finish. He is also very diligent and has returned to make good any minor problems where required. Throughout the work Lindsay also helped to keep costs down on such a large job by providing me with options to decide the course of action. He also provided a great deal of advice in areas we decided to take on ourselves, which was greatly appreciated. Lindsay is highly recommended for all building work.’

I just want to say how pleased Angela and I are with the porch that you designed and built for us. It has really added to the house and its value if we ever sell it. We do appreciate how much trouble you went to, to ensure a good match for the bricks etc and the care you took to ensure the whole job was done properly.

We have had a number of comments from passers-by and neighbours about how well it matches the house in both style and brickwork. We are happy to show your work to anyone considering using you to do building work. We would also show them the Conservatory walls that you built 7 – 8 years ago.

Lindsay Marlow was reliable, tidy, polite and friendly and took time to talk to us about the build on a regular basis. He took care of all matters on the build, including Building Inspections, electrical inspections, plumbing, painting and decorating.
